Job Title:              Meat Packer
Classification:   Full-Time
Salary:                  Based on Experience; Competitive Benefits Package

WHO YOU ARE
A lightening quick, meat-loving, go-getter who looks forward to waking up early and working with a small, close-knit team in a fast-paced environment. You may have the desire to become a butcher, but have no prior training. If so, this is a stepping stone to begin your career as a butcher.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a Meat Packer you are in charge of properly packaging cuts of meat for wholesale and cut and wrap customers. You are able to meet production goals while ensuring product going out is of high quality. You keep track of which meat belongs to whom, and with training, can identify any cut in front of you. This position requires inner-calm, patience, and a focused mind.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Reliable, responsible, honest, and punctual
  • Maintain high sanitation standards
  • Operate all equipment safely
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Work with a sense of urgency
  • Desire for collaborative work environment, while able to work independently
  • Able to work in a temperature controlled environment (below 40 F degree)
  • Must be able to stand 8 hours
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Enthusiasm for SCMC’s mission – to provide the best meat processing in the North Bay

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Knowledge of primal and retail cuts helpful
  • Experience in the meat industry a plus

You dream of an era of simplicity, in which a clean old-fashion butcher shop is a beacon of hope. You have a beautifying aesthetic, adorning meat is your new thing.

You may want to be the character at the corner butcher shop that can greet return customers for years to come. Or you may have the desire to become a butcher, but have no prior training. If so, this is a stepping stone to begin your career as a butcher.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a Retail Butcher Shop Counter Hop you are motivated to sell locally raised meat. You ensure an appealing display, and maintain a high quality of freshness by following procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, and wrapping up product. This position requires a smile, accuracy, and an engaged mind.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Reliable, responsible, honest, and punctual
  • Give every customer prompt and undivided attention
  • Accurately prepare, package, weigh, and price meat products
  • Maintain accurate signage and pricing
  • Work with Quickbooks POS and collect money from customers
  • Take orders both in person and over the phone
  • Beginning of the day set-up & End of day cleaning, sanitizing, and closing
  • Maintain high sanitation standards
  • Operate all equipment safely
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Work with a sense of urgency
  • Desire for collaborative work environment, while able to work independently
  • Must be able to stand 10 hours
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
